Career

Christian G. Sia is a founding partner and leads the Tax, Tariff, and Trade Practice groups. He has represented client companies before the Bureau of Internal Revenue, specializing in the enforcement of Letters of Authority, defense against Preliminary and Final Assessment Notices, and requests for favorable tax rulings and exemptions. Mr. Sia has successfully protected high net-worth individuals and corporate taxpayers, including top construction, real estate, and engineering companies, as well as public utilities, against excessive and unjust assessments.

Among his victories include significantly reducing a publicly listed company’s tax exposure from approximately Php 1 Billion to less than Php 100 Million, and fending off an unjustified deficiency tax assessment of approximately Php 11 Billion. He defended a construction corporation against excessive and baseless assessments, exceeding Php 230 Million. His timely and pragmatic advice on tariff law allowed a multinational entity from avoiding the potential cessation of its business (valued at Php 1.5. Billion).

Mr. Sia serves as the business consultant of several companies, including a leading chain of supermarkets in the country. Mr. Sia is a member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Philippine Constitutional Association.

Prior to joining the Firm, he was a partner in the Salva & Sia Law Offices and worked as an Auditor in the country’s largest accounting firm. Mr. Sia is an active participant in governance activities, especially in Pasig City, home of the country’s 3rd largest business district.
