Mr. Kazi Ershadul Alam is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and frequently appears before the Company, Judicial Review, Commercial, Taxation and Admiralty benches of the Hon’ble High Court Division. He specializes, among others, in cross border transactions, corporate law, corporate finance, merger and acquisitions, commercial disputes, arbitration, employment law, taxation, telecommunication law, power and energy laws, banking and finance. His expertise also extends to joint venture, private equity transactions, securities law, international trade and intellectual property law, amongst other areas of law. He has advised a wide range of clients on various legal issues and is considered to be one of the promising lawyers in the fields. He acted as a counsel of the merger of two leading mobile operators being Robi and Airtel in Bangladesh. He also worked in several other M&As that involved huge financial transactions, such as takeover of GrameenPhone IT Limited by Accenture, equity investment of IFC, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Alipay and most recently, SoftBank, in mobile financial service provider pioneer bKash Limited, acquisition of four RMG companies by a non-resident company. He was also involved in several other cross-border transactions including acquisitions, equity financing (including private equity and venture capital) and project financing. Notably, he acted as a counsel on behalf of Abul Khair Steel Melting Ltd. in a project finance transaction funded by HSBC, London. He also acted as a lead counsel in acquisition of shares by Jera power in Reliance Bangladesh LNG & Power. He regularly advises Grameenphone Limited and Robi Axiata Limited, the top two MNOs in Bangladesh on a wide range of issues involving regulatory, corporate affairs, labour and employment, capital market, commercial disputes, taxation, intellectual property etc. He advised Brummer and Partners, a world renowned private equity firm in almost all of their investments in Bangladesh. He also acted as a co-counsel in various litigations and arbitrations and represented a wide range of clients including  national conglomerates like United Group, Summit Group, Abul Khair Group, Partex Group, Confidence Group, Akij Group, Grameen family companies, MNCs like The Coca-Cola Company, Danone, Coats, BBC, Berger, China Development Bank, Citi NA, Conocophillips, Dell, DHL, Juki, Novartis; to name a few, statutory bodies like Paschimanchal Gas Company Limited, Maddhapra Granite Mining Company Limited, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University etc. Recently, Mr. Alam represented Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Limited in two arbitrations in two disputes with its contractor arising out of the mining contract for extraction of hard rock. He worked in close collaboration with top tire law firms of the world and advised on various aspects of Bangladesh law including company law, competition law, merger and acquisition, telecommunication law, commercial law, employment law, mobile financial system, taxation etc.

Mr. Kazi Ershadul Alam is a Barrister-at-Law of the Hon’ble Society of Lincolns’ Inn, and holds a Graduate Diploma in Law. He obtained B.Sc. (Hon’s) in Computing and Information Systems, University of London, and Master of Business Administration from the University of Dhaka.

Mr. Alam holds the title of Barrister-at-Law of the Hon’ble Society of Lincolns’ Inn. Before completing his Bar Professional Training Course from BPP University, London. he pursued  his Graduate Diploma-in Law (GDL) from the same law school. Earlier, he has completed his undergraduate in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) while majoring in Computing and Inforamtion Systems. He also holds a Master of Business Adminstration (MBA) degree in Management from the reputed University of Dhaka.
