Career
Ms. Islam’s strength is her versatile work experience in different sectors. Her areas of expertise include power sector, renewable energy, merger and acquisition, strategic investments, corporate/ company law, foreign direct investment, capital raising for both private and public companies, cross border business sales, constitutional matters, construction and property law, taxation, , e-commerce and so on. She regularly advises on Companies Act, securities law compliances, broad range of commercial issues and corporate advisory matters. She also has experience in litigation and arbitration and she draws on her litigation background to guide dispute resolution processes and aims to obtain commercial resolutions for her clients without the need for court intervention.
She often serves as committee member for handling complaints of sexual harassment at workplace, in both local and multi-national organizations/companies. Most notably she was engaged by an international NGO, Pathfinder International, to carry out investigative works in connection to a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) backed project.
Ms. Islam was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2012. She has completed Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City University, London and also holds a Master of Laws degree in International Business Law from BPP University, London. She is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and enrolled as an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. She joined Tanjib Alam and Associates in 2015.
Prior to joining Tanjib Alam and Associates, she worked as a Legal Assistant at AK Solicitors LLP, London and as an Associate at Huq and Company, helmed by eminent legal luminary, Barrister Rafique-ul Huq. Ms. Islam also served as a faculty member at the Department of Law, North South University, Bangladesh for a brief period.
