Dispute Resolution

Position

Partner, Dispute Resolution

Career

I am a partner in Bird & Bird’s international Dispute Resolution practice in Singapore. I handle a wide range of commercial disputes and have a specialist focus on advising and representing clients in complex and high-value international arbitrations, particularly in the areas of technology, media, construction, aviation, projects and infrastructure, non-marine insurance and intellectual property.

I am dual-qualified in Singapore and England & Wales and consider myself very fortunate to have been involved in a range of significant and high-value disputes and arbitrations over the years, both as counsel and, more recently, as an arbitrator. The clients I act for come from all over the world and include multinationals, banks, international contractors, media and broadcasting agencies, telecoms operators and consultants.

I am very ably supported by an intelligent and dedicated team of experienced disputes practitioners who consistently deliver a high quality of service to our clients. Together, we take pride in ensuring that our clients receive advice that is clear, commercial and practical. We also enjoy working closely with our clients to plan and execute the most sensible and efficient ways to resolve their disputes. Clients feel comfortable approaching us to discuss their disputes and like the fact that we are reliable and responsive.

I have advised and represented clients in arbitrations conducted under most of the major institutional rules, including those of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the International Chamber of Commerce, the London Court of International Arbitration, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law. I also regularly represent clients in arbitrations seated outside of Singapore.

I accept appointments as an arbitrator and have been appointed by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre as arbitrator – including as sole arbitrator – on a variety of disputes. I am also on the panel of arbitrators for the Asian International Arbitration Centre and the Law Society of Singapore.

In addition to being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, I serve as a Director and Honorary Secretary of its Singapore Branch. I’m also a member of several other professional institutions including the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Building.

I am a past recipient of the Law Society of Singapore Advocacy Prize.
