Career

Dr. George Lin is the founder and managing partner of Lin & Partners, specializing in banking, M&A, securities, and gaming law matters.
Dr. Lin’s practice has covered a full range of equity market transactions, including hostile and friendly acquisitions of public companies, tender offers, and share offerings. Over the years he has represented numerous local and multinational financial service firms in the acquisition or disposal of business operations in Taiwan and overseas.
Dr. Lin has served for two terms as an independent director of Mega Financial Holding, the largest government-owned publicly listed financial institution in Taiwan with global operations in banking, bills finance, insurance, asset management and securities.
In addition to law practice, Dr. Lin has served as legal advisor to numerous government agencies and trade associations, including the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, National Bankers Association, Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable, National Development Fund, Taiwan CPA Association, Centers for Disease Control, Institute for Information Technology, Taiwan Bankers Association, Central Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Taiwan’s cabinet, the Executive Yuan. Dr. Lin is also an arbitrator at the R.O.C. Arbitration Association.
Dr. Lin has remained active in the academic sector. He is an associate professor at Soochow University School of Law in Taiwan, and a frequent contributor to the mainstream publications. Dr. Lin is the author of numerous Taiwan chapters for Law Business Research’s publications, and has recently published an article on financial product regulation “Theory and Practices of Financial Consumer Protection Act” in the Taiwan Law Journal. Dr. Lin has regularly participated in seminars and lectured throughout Asia for over 25 years.
Dr. Lin is recognized by Chambers Asia-Pacific as a leading/Band 1 attorney for banking & finance, corporate and M&A, dispute resolution and gaming practice, and by Legal 500 and AsiaLaw Profile in areas including banking & finance, dispute resolution, capital markets, corporate and M&A, and project & energy.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Lin was a senior associate at Lee & Li Attorneys-at-Law and Baker & McKenzie.
Dr. Lin has obtained his Ph.D. from National Cheng-Chi University, an LL.M. from Soochow University, and an LL.B. from National Taiwan University.
