Position

Partner, Immigration, Asylum and Nationality.

Roberta has a particular interest in asylum and human rights claims, including unaccompanied minors and victims of trafficking. Her broad practice also includes advising on family based applications, such as children, partners, dependent relatives, and applications based on domestic violence, applications under EEA law, and nationality.

Roberta also advises on challenges to deportation and the legality of detention. She represents applicants at both the application stage and at appeal in the First-Tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal.

She regularly brings judicial review challenges before the Upper Tribunal and Administrative Court, and has also obtained significant damages on behalf of people unlawfully detained by the Home Office.

Career

Roberta joined Bindmans in 2007 and qualified as a solicitor in March 2010.

Education

Before entering the legal profession, Roberta studied for a BA (Hons) in Social Anthropology and Development at the University of Sussex. She later passed her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law with distinction.
