Andrew is an experienced corporate Partner and has been a member of the Board for 10 years. Andrew is nationally regarded for his work with venture capital funds and working with growth businesses in their development, including fundraising and strategic plans.

Andrew has built long term relationships with clients as a trusted adviser and helped develop the team to one of the most active and experienced in the UK, with independent research organisations Experience, Market IQ and Pitchbook all recognising the team as one of the most active and experienced in the UK. Andrew is also ranked in Chambers as a leading individual in his field.

  • Ontology Partners Limited: Advising on the sale of Ontology Partners Limited to Exfo Inc., a Canadian based listed company.
  • Perwyn: Advising Perwyn, a private equity fund, on its acquisition of video games developer Sumo Digital Holdings Limited.
  • Comapi group: Advising on the sale of the Comapi Group to Dotdigital Group plc .
  • Moortec Semiconductor Limited: Advising on an investment from Altitude Partners.
  • Crowdcube: Assisting Crowdcube, a leading crowd funding platform, on its £5 million fund raising lead by Balderton.

Andrew Betteridge heads the team at Ashfords LLP, which is noted for its strength in the technology sector, as well as its involvement in cross-border M&A transactions. Simon Rous, who has experience of the UK, US, European and Middle Eastern markets, recently acted for a client on its $100m sale to the other shareholder of its 50% stake in their joint venture in Cyprus, Nigeria, Turkey and Dubai; he also advised a Saudi Arabia-based organisation on the sale of its business and assets to a new joint venture company. Stuart Fleet advised a South African mining company client on a £35.5m hostile takeover offer by an investment company, and Giles Hawkins acted for a client in the renewable energy sector on the £14m disposal of a partnership interest from a venture capital fund in the company. Clients include Gemalto, Sprue Aegis, Tamares Real Estate Investments and Schlumberger.

Primarily led out of its Bristol headquarters, Ashfords LLP's practice has significant market visibility and handles a 'significant flow of work' for an impressive roster of investor clients including Notion Capital, Touchstone Innovations and MMC Ventures. Although the firm is active across the funding lifecycle, it has recently handled numerous later-stage mandates on behalf of investor syndicates. In this regard, Chris Dyson recently acted for an international investor syndicate including Sapphire Ventures and Notion Capital on a £20m Series D investment in CurrencyCloud. The firm is also increasingly active on the company side and led by Rory Suggett recently advised online estate agent Emoov on a £9m investment round by various investors. Indeed, Betteridge advised Dynmark International and its sister company Donky Networks on the ¬£11m sale of its entire issued share capital ‚Äď included Dynmark‚Äôs Polish and US subisidiaries ‚Äď to DotDigital Group plc. Chris Dyson¬†leads the firm‚Äôs technology sector team and is noted for ‚Äėblending excellent commercial acumen and legal expertise‚Äô. Dyson acted for multiple funders including Atlas Venture Funds VIII and Xange Private Equity in a ¬£20m series D investment round for Currency Cloud Group. Additionally, Rory Suggett¬†has assisted growth companies and private investors in numerous fundraising rounds. The department made two major lateral hires in 2017, bringing in corporate tax expert Nicola Manclark¬†from Burges Salmon LLP, and Andrew Braithwaite¬†who specialises in IP and tech and joined from Thrings LLP.
