Career

Charles Wong is a Partner of DAST based in the Kuching Branch and also the Head of Transaction Department.  Charles joined the firm at the beginning of 2002 after 5 and half years of active practice. He graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Economics (Majoring in Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws (B.Ec./LL.B.) double-degree from Monash University, Victoria, Australia.

Upon graduating, he attended the post-graduate Legal Practical Course at the Leo Cussen Institute in Melbourne.  In 1995 he was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria. In June, 1996 he was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.

Upon admission, Charles practiced as a litigation lawyer in Kuching, dealing chiefly with civil litigation on contract law, banking law and land law. His previous experience in litigation gives him an edge in his current transactional and corporate / commercial law portfolio as he is aware of issues that may lead to subsequent disputes and thus is able to deal with those issues before they arise.

He is now a partner of Kuching office in charge of commercial cases and has prepared numerous documents for loans and facilities for commercial banks as well as other financial institutions.
