Partner, focusing on public liability, workers’ compensation, motor injury and professional indemnity claims.

Chris has practiced for 25 years starting his legal career as an article clerk with Jackson McDonald’s Perth office in 1995 and was admitted to their partnership in 2002. In 2003, Chris became a founding partner of Jarman McKenna—a boutique insurance law firm in Perth that merged with Sparke Helmore in March 2017 and Chris became a partner of Sparke Helmore on completion of the merger.

As well as advising insurer clients, their insureds and members of the WA insurance broking firms, Chris regularly appears as Counsel in tribunals and courts in WA including the District Court of WA and the Court of Appeal and attends mediation and pre-trial conferences on a daily basis.

Outside of legal practice Chris is a Board member of Variety WA – the Children’s Charity and a Committee member of the AJ Diamond Club – a coterie group associated with the Fremantle Dockers Football Club which provides networking, business and mentoring resources to Fremantle Dockers players, coaches and staff.

Chris is a member of the Law Society of WA, the Australian Insurance Law Association and the Australasian Professional Indemnity Group

Chris has a law degree from the University of Western Australia.

Chris is a keen cyclist and in March 2021 completed his 7th Hawaiian Ride for Youth from Albany to Perth (700 km), on this occasion riding through the south west region of Western Australia and stopping at various schools along the way to talk to students about mental health. The ride raises money for Youth Focus, an independent West Australian not-for-profit organisation working to stop youth suicide and helping young people aged 12 to 25 overcome issues associated with depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. Off the bike, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, passionately following his beloved Fremantle Dockers and offsetting some of the kilometres ridden on his bike with some quality red wine.
