Particulars of work experience

Administrative Law:  Extensive experience of drafting, conducting and contesting judicial review applications. Appeared on behalf of various clients in numerous judicial review applications challenging decisions of nationalised banks, various ministries of the Government of Bangladesh and a number of major state Corporations.

Banking Law: Represented various Banks including Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited in a number of cases before the High Court Division and the ArthaRinAdalats. Provided legal opinions to several banks including leading Islamic banks.

Corporate Law:  Matters including instituting    proceedings for rectification of share registers and drafting partnership agreements and Memorandum and Articles of Association. Drafted opinions and legal notices and instituted various legal proceedings on behalf of numerous companies. Provided legal assistance to various foreign companies in setting up subsidiary companies/liason offices in Bangladesh.

Energy Law:   Advised and drafted contracts for foreign companies and also nationalized oil and gas companies including Petrobangla.

Employment Law:   Represented clients before the Labour Tribunal and the Labour Appellate Tribunal.Provided legal opinions to several banks and private clients regarding various employment law issues.

Teaching and research experience in higher education:

2016: Visting Scholar, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.

2013–present: Teaching as assistant professor (part-time) in asia pacific university for two modules: international organisation and alternative dispute resolution.

2011-2012: Taught as adjunct faculty in south east university, bangladesh for      three modules: private international law, international law of natural resources and water law and policy.                                         

2009-2011: Distance Learning Tutor cum Teaching Assistant at CEPMLP, University of Dundee for three modules: Environmental Law and Policy, Mineral and Petroleum Taxation and International and Comparative Mineral Law and Policy.

 2008-2009: Teaching Assistant for the Mining Programme at CEPMLP, University of Dundee. My work involved collating the mining legislation for different countries in order to create a database, analyzing different mining legislations.

2007-2008: Teaching Assistant at CEPMLP, University of Dundee. My work involved assisting supervisors to carry out various legal research, summarizing articles, prepare power point slides.

2003-2004: Course Co-ordinator  for advocacy skills for young lawyers entering the High Court of Bangladesh conducted by the Bangladesh Bar Council.

2008-2010: Student Support Assistant under the Student Services at the University of Dundee. My jobs included providing pastoral care to students in the halls of residence and also help students with any academic difficulties including tuition or help with any other problems during their stay.

Professional Research and Consultancy Experience:

Study Guidelines: Contributed in the writing of the study guide for International Comparative Mineral Law and Policy for Distance learning students at the Centre for Energy Petroleum Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, 2009. Also contributed in the writing of the study guide for International Law of Natural Resources and Energy for Distance learning students at the Centre for Energy Petroleum Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, 2011.

Independent Legal Consultancy and Report : The legal aspects of exploration and drilling in South Asia’, independent legal consultant and contributor in a report for Futuretec Limited, an Aberdeen based drilling and casing company, 2008. ‘The legal and financial implications of disbursing loans for renewable energy in rural Bangladesh’, contributor in a report for Grameen Bank, a microfinance organization and winner of Noble Peace Prize, 2006.
