The firm: Mayne Wetherell was founded on 1 April 2004 by a number of top New Zealand legal practitioners, who collectively recognised a need in the New Zealand market for a premium, specialised corporate and finance law firm. Currently, Mayne Wetherell has 25 qualified lawyers who practice across banking and finance, corporate and commercial and restructuring and insolvency.

Areas of practice: Mayne Wetherell is one of the premier specialist corporate and finance legal practices in New Zealand. The firm is recognised as one of New Zealand's leading banking and finance firms, particularly in the fields of capital markets, structured finance and securitisation, leveraged/acquisition finance and syndicated and bilateral financing. In addition, the firm's corporate/M&A team specialises in advising on significant transactions, with a particular focus on domestic and cross-border M&A. As part of this transactional focus the team has particular expertise in providing advice on inbound investment and overseas investment office approvals. Although we have advised on transactions in all sectors of the economy, the FMCG and financial services sectors have been a significant part of the firm's M&A practice in recent years. Mayne Wetherell has also played key roles in restructures and transactions that are of significant value or strategic importance for major clients.
