Position

Partner who heads up the national SHE practice. Helen manages a team of specialist regulatory lawyers. She handles a number of high-profile cases involving fatal accidents and gross negligence manslaughter prosecutions. Helen is also the broker sector leader and was seconded for four years to a global broker where her work focused on risk management strategies. Helen is a recognised trainer and speaker at national conferences on all aspects of safety legislation.

The 'highly impressive' Helen Devery leads the team at BLM following Jennette Newman's departure to Clyde & Co LLP. Leanne Conisbee is the key contact in the firm's London office; she regularly defends companies and individuals in regulatory investigations and prosecutions. The practice also handles compliance and enforcement work and represents clients in inquests. BLM's department is headed by the ‘undoubtedly impressive’ Helen Devery, who is ‘calm, helpful and very capable’. Other members of the large team include the ‘very smart, hardworking and accessible’ Natalie Puce, Sally Hancock, who has ‘great judgement and communication skills’, and Nick Gianferrari, who is regularly called on to represent clients in coroners' inquests. Associate David Rainey is ‘very sensitive to clients' needs and very knowledgeable’. The team is best known for its work in complex fatal accident investigations and very high-profile inquests. The team is currently representing Redrow Homes following a fatal incident at a site in Liverpool where a contractor was struck and killed by a large item of plant which was being operated by an employee of another sub-contractor. Other key clients include Warburton’s and G4S as well as Travelers and Aviva.
