Position

Michael specialises in the defence of high profile sexual/physical abuse and bullying claims, including group litigation. He is nominated by several religious organisations, local authorities, school, youth and charity organisations and their insurers to deal with their most sensitive claims. Michael is currently involved in a number of group litigation abuse claims acting on behalf of schools and religious organisations as well as representing core participants and interested parties to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IISCA). Chambers & Partners 2016 states that Michael has “particular knowledge of abuse claims and often represents local authorities and religious and charitable organisations.” With Paula Jefferson, Michael is BLM’s lead abuse partner, speaking at internal and external events as well as contributing to publications and radio broadcasts commenting on abuse and IICSA issues.He is a past editor of the Bingham and Berrymans Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases, a standard reference work in the field of personal injury. The 2016 edition of Legal 500 names Michael as an “elite lawyer”.
