Career

Mr. Hutabarat is one of the founding partners of HHR Lawyers. A Law graduate from the Catholic University of Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia. His areas of specialization encompass: (i) Commercial Dispute Resolutions, (ii) Capital Market, Banking and Finance, and (iii) Infrastructure and Development.

Mr. Hutabarat has been acknowledged in the area of practice of commercial dispute resolution by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 since 2006 and as Recommended Lawyers in Shipping, is regarded as one of the leading individuals in Dispute Resolution in Indonesia by asialaw and IFLR1000, also in the list of the A-List Indonesia’s Top 100 Lawyers for the past years. He is named as Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific, also Asia Super 50 Disputes Lawyers 2023 and Dealmakers of Asia 2022 by Asian Legal Business.

His extensive experience in drafting and structuring legal frameworks as well as transaction documents, within the areas of practice mentioned above, has led him to handle various transactional and transnational projects and facilitate various multinational companies that have business and projects in Indonesia.

He has been a guest speaker at a number of conferences and seminars, in both domestic as well as international forums, and has contributed many of his writings to international journals and leading publications. His recent published works, among others, are: (i) contributor to the Indonesian Chapter of “The Restructuring Review” – Law Business Research (2016, 2017 and 2018), (ii) one of the contributors in The Professional Lawyers 2018, published by Men’s Obsession (2018), (iii) one of the contributors to the Indonesian Chapter on “Arbitration”, published by Geting the Deal Through – Law Business Research (2018), (iv) one of the contributors to Indonesian Chapter – Practical Law on “Product Liability Global Guide” (2017), (v) one of the contributors to Indonesian Chapter – Lexis Nexis on “Company Law Guide” (2017), (vi) contributor to the Indonesian Chapter of “Initial Public Offerings” – Getting the Deal Through (2016 and 2017), and (vii) one of the contributors to the Indonesian Chapter – Getting the Deal Through, Law Business Research on “Enforcement of Foreign Judgement” (2015, 2016 and 2017).
