Career

Advises clients on setting up and managing investments in Myanmar, and on a broad range of legal issues, including commercial and contractual matters, disputes, debt recovery, joint ventures, acquisitions, market entry, regulatory and compliance matters, corporate governance, issues relating to land, and employment law. In Commercial and Corporate Disputes, her main areas of practice are litigation and arbitration involving commercial and contractual disputes, shareholder and joint venture issues, defamation, and claims relating to directors’ duties and other corporate governance matters.

Matters of significance in which Suegene has been involved in include acting/advising for the following:

  • Litigation and arbitration relating to contractual, joint venture and shareholder issues, defamation, and claims relating to directors’ duties and other corporate governance matters.
  • Acted and advised on various cross-border disputes involving parties from and investments in a variety of jurisdictions, including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and the PRC.
  • Cross-border disputes involving parties from and investments in a variety of jurisdictions including Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and the PRC.
  • Keppel Land Limited in its divestment by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Wiseland Investment Pte. Ltd., of its entire shareholding interest in Wiseland Investment (Myanmar) Limited (which owned and operated the Sedona Hotel in Mandalay, Myanmar) to Eden Hotels and Resort Co., Ltd., a Myanmar-based hospitality group.
  • Pan Pacific Hospitality Pte. Ltd. on its joint venture with Shwe Taung Junction City Development Co., Ltd. for the construction, development and/or management of Pan Pacific Yangon.
  • The financing for the development of the commercial component of the Junction City project in Yangon.
