Career

Laura’s main areas of practice are litigation and arbitration disputes, with a focus on construction and engineering projects, civil and commercial disputes.

Work Highlights

Matters of significance in which Laura has been involved in include acting for the following:

  • A main contractor in an ICC arbitration with the Employer over various claims including that for variations, extensions of time, prolongation costs and recovery of liquidated damages relating to a construction of a waste treatment project in the Middle East.
  • An owner and operator of a hydrogen and synthesis gas plant in an SIAC arbitration with its end user over a prolonged outage at the plant, and the transfer of the plant to the end user, including issues relating to the plant assets to be transferred.
  • A main contractor in an SIAC arbitration with its sub-contractor over various breaches of contract involving piling works relating to the construction of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system in Singapore.
  • A developer in an SIA arbitration against the main contractor for the construction of a mixed residential development in Singapore for various breaches of contract including issues relating to delay, disruption and defective works.
  • Main contractors and sub-contractors in various adjudications, both as claimant and respondent under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (Cap. 30B).
