Career

Experienced in family law with a particular focus on matrimonial disputes. She handles all aspects of matrimonial litigation such as high-net-worth divorce, division of assets (including the tracing and preservation of assets), maintenance issues, and child-related disputes including applications involving international elements. Also experienced in non-contentious resolution of family law issues, including the negotiation of prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, separation agreements and other out-of-court settlements.

Work Highlights

Matters of significance in which Yu Xin has been involved in include the following:

  • Acting for various high-net-worth individuals in the litigation of their matrimonial proceedings before the Family Division of the High Court and Court of Appeal including in UVF v. UVG [2019] SGHCF 21 and VMO v. VMP [2020] SGHCF 23 which touched on complex issues of asset determination and division.
  • Acting for the husband in the out-of-court resolution of divorce proceedings involving assets in excess of S$25 million.
  • Advising on a prenuptial agreement between an heir to a large family legacy and his fiancée in a cross-border marriage involving elements of Singapore and foreign law.
  • Acting and obtaining custody and child access court orders in cases involving myriad issues of substance abuse and allegations of violence including before the Court of Appeal in APE v. APF [2015] 5 SLR 783.
  • Advising a mother in a relocation bid within the context of an acrimonious relationship which was eventually successfully resolved in her favour out of court.
