Slaughter and May‘s integrated pensions team offers clients an in-depth and bespoke service. The non-contentious practice’s deep expertise is led by ‘exceptional’ industrial and manufacturing sector expert Charles Cameron. The team is also involved in market innovations, advising on and assisting in the development of the legislative framework for Royal Mail’s proposed Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) pension scheme, on which Sandeep Maudgil is a key partner. Daniel Schaffer is praised by clients for his ‘unrivalled knowledge’ and advises significant industry-wide schemes on benefit redesign, mergers, demergers, and funding. ‘Strategic and commercial’ Richard Jeens heads the disputes practice, which is currently acting for the trustees of the BT, Ford, and M&S schemes in their judicial review of the UK Statistics Authority’s industry-wide proposition to align RPI with CIPH from 2030, a proposed change that will affect all UK DB schemes and linked assests/benefits. The team also advises on TPR investigations, Ombudsmen complaints, and benefit disputes.
