Franka is a Special Counsel in Corrs Chambers Westgarth’s Energy, Resources and Projects Group and is a specialist adviser focusing on the energy and resources industries.  Her areas of practice include advising governments, government owned enterprises, project proponents and other private enterprises on corporate issues, complex commercial arrangements and major project developments.

She has extensive experience advising the Queensland Government, including on the development of the Aurukun Bauxite Project near Weipa in Queensland and various policy initiatives in the water and biofutures sectors.  Her clients include project proponents, owners and operators of mines, linear infrastructure and power projects and entities in and supporting the energy and resources industries.

In 2020, Corrs Chambers Westgarth expanded its practice with the recruitment of Anthony Arrow from Pinsent Masons LLP and Trevor Thomas from HWL Ebsworth. The newly bolstered group is well-known for advising on complex transactions and project development negotiations, both in the private and public sector. Brisbane partner Michael MacGinley specialises in mining, oil & gas, utilities and renewables matters. Peter Jarosek in Perth is noted for his expertise in major oil & gas and mining ventures, with a particular focus on corporate matters. Associate Franka Cheung is another core member of the practice. Since publication, the team welcomed Tracey Greenaway and Anthony Lepere in its Perth and Melbourne offices respectively. Greenaway who has particular strength in LNG projects, joint ventures and gas sales and purchase agreements joined from Allens, and Lepere who specialises in corporate and project development in the energy and resources sector joined from Shearman & Sterling LLP in London.
