Alistair Newton Corrs Chambers Westgarth

Corrs Chambers Westgarth handles major merger filings and competition investigations for multinational clients and a growing number of domestic businesses and Australian subsidiaries. The firm is heavily involved in many of the ACCC’s high-profile Big Tech investigations, acting for clients including Google, and also regularly works with major US-based buyout funds on merger clearances for business-critical acquisitions. Mark McCowan  co-heads the team and is an experienced and effective competition practitioner, leading on many of the team’s top mandates. In terms of trade, co-head Andrew Korbel  is particular strong in advising multinationals on market entry regulations, and representing companies in anti-dumping investigations. Melbourne-based Alistair Newton  continues to grow his profile, specialising in merger clearances for clients in a variety of sectors, while Richard Flitcroft  is highly experienced in handling ACCC investigations. Special counsel Ian Reynolds  plays a key role in M&A and cartel work. The practice was further bolstered in early 2021 by the arrival of Jodi Gray from King & Wood Mallesons. Lawyers are in Sydney unless otherwise stated.
