Position

Andrew advises companies on all aspects of the innovation, product and brand lifecycle by helping them preserve, protect, enforce and make more money from their intellectual assets and technologies. He is passionate about innovation and has a particular focus working with clients that operate in the advanced manufacturing and technology sector. He also acts for brand owners including numerous household names. In terms of dispute work, Andrew has litigated the full spectrum of IP rights across a diverse range of technologies. Andrew also assists companies and academic institutions with commercial agreements concerning the funding, development and commercialisation of technology. Andrew represents a range of clients from creative and technology start ups through to global multinationals and leading research intensive Universities. Recent clients including Yamazaki Mazak – world’s leading CNC tooling manufacturer, several well-known cycle brands, Epigeum – a successful spin out from Imperial College London, University of Aston, Nottingham and Warwick.

Career

Andrew qualified into DLA Piper’s Birmingham restructuring team in September 2005 having trained at the firm’s Leeds office. Andrew was promoted to Associate in January 2010. He joined SGH Martineau’s intellectual property team as a Senior Associate in June 2012, making partner in May 2014.

Shoosmiths LLP ’s IP team has a heavy focus on the areas of science, technology and engineering. Andrew Brennan  heads the practice and recently advised DynaEnergetics on a patent infringement claim against GeoDynamics and Datalase on its numerous patent license agreements. He also advised the University of Nottingham on its technology transfer contracts and Octopus on the IP elements of its second round investment into Reactive Technologies. The life sciences-focused legal director Lisa Page  recently joined from BPE Solicitors LLP. Other key figures include: senior associate Nichola Jenkins , who specialises in non-contentious matters; associate Imogen Francis , who focuses on the technology sector and IP litigator Eloise Di Pasqua .
