Career

Susan currently advises clients on a range of litigation issues arising in relation to the Canterbury rebuild. Susan provides advice on commercial contract disputes and construction contracts. She advises on insurance policy interpretation issues and advocates for clients in respect of disputed material damage and business interruption claims. Susan also advises councils, building owners and employers on issues relating to earthquake–prone buildings. Susan is an adviser to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority and represents councils on local government and enforcement issues and judicial review.

Susan has extensive experience in dispute resolution and has appeared before a range of courts and tribunals in New Zealand and Australia, and at arbitrations and mediations.

Susan also specialises in employment law and advises public sector, corporate and individual clients on a wide range of employment and health and safety issues. She has represented clients in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court.
