Suan Im specialises in corporate banking & finance and capital markets. Her practice includes acting for lenders, financial institutions, arrangers and corporate borrowers on domestic and cross border corporate loans, corporate Islamic financing, syndicated loans, project financing, ship financing, conventional debt securities and Islamic finance (including Sukuk). Suan Im is named as a leading banking lawyer in 2017 by the IFLR1000 Asia-Pacific.

Suan Im advised the financiers on the multi-currency Islamic medium term notes programme of up to MYR7.0 billion which was the first Sukuk lodged under the Securities Commission Malaysia’s Lodge and Launch Framework 2015. This transaction also won the Debt Market Deal of the Year at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) South East Asia Law Awards 2015 and Debt Market Deal of the Year as well as Malaysia Deal of the Year at the ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2015.

The team at Zul Rafique & Partners offers regulatory and transactional advice to domestic and international financial institutions, acting on both the lending and borrowing side in project financing and syndicated lending matters. The practice is led by the ‘excellent‘ Loh Mei Mei, advising clients such as Standard Chartered, HSBC, and Bank of China Malaysia. Mei and Celine Rangithan advised Maybank and CIMB on a complex project financing deal involving four different companies, with a total of around RM1.17bn in funds provided.
