Career

Pei-Ling was formerly the Head of Legal and Compliance of a Malaysian main board listed company, which provided business outsourcing services to multinational clients across Asia, the United States and Europe. Prior to joining CNP Law, she served as legal counsel in a government asset holding company for public healthcare institutions, advising the institutions on their commercial and technology contracts.

Pei-Ling has over 23 years of experience in corporate and cross-border transactions, and has advised on investments, joint-ventures and commercial transactions in Singapore and Malaysia.  Over the years, she has also developed a practice in the areas of data protection, technology and employment.   Pei-Ling is qualified to practise law in Singapore and Malaysia, and was admitted to the English Bar in 1996.

Some of Pei-Ling’s notable transactions:

1. Advised a Japanese MNC on the review of their employment rules and regulations, and personal data handbooks.
2. Advised a UK-based client on the retrenchment and payment of retrenchment benefits for a senior employee.
3. Advised a consultancy company on their template employment agreements.
4. Advised a large company in the airport services industry on its commercial agreements and compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act, specifically on the transfer of personal data from the EU to Singapore.
5. Advised the SUTL group on its privacy policy and compliance with data protection in Singapore.
