Career

Ira A. Eddymurthy is a founding partner of SSEK Legal Consultants and one of Indonesia’s most experienced and highly regarded lawyers. She has more than three decades of experience advising multinationals and domestic companies on Indonesia’s complex regulatory environment. Ira specializes in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, banking law, finance, including project finance, insurance law, and tax law.

Representative Matters

  • Advised PT Indosat Tbk on the establishment of a data center joint venture with Indosat subsidiary PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta and BDx Asia Data Center Holdings Pte. Ltd.
  • Represented Pertamina in negotiations with Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance over a strategic partnership for the development of Indonesia’s petrochemical industry.
  • Advised on the formation of the Indonesian Oil and Gas Holding SOE, a US$ 4 billion deal that resulted in the creation of Indonesia’s largest state-owned holding company.
  • Acted for Pertamina International Shipping in connection with its energy transportation cooperation with a Japanese shipping company.
  • Advised Exxon Natuna on regulatory issues pertaining to a multibillion-dollar oil and gas development.
  • Acted for Gesit Companies, a diversified Indonesian conglomerate that operates in the property, trading and services, manufacturing and natural resources sectors, in a transaction with MEA Commercial Holdings, a leading Singapore holding company that focuses on real estate investments.
  • Advised Malaysian investment holding company RII Holdings Sdn Bhd on its acquisition of a substantial equity interest in leading Indonesian logistics company PT Pandu Siwi Sentosa.
  • Assisted a bidder, a multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in Singapore, with its contemplated acquisition of a controlling stake in one of Indonesia’s largest banks by assets.
  • Assisted Restaurant Brands Asia Limited, a listed Indian company that operates major F&B brands, as Indonesian counsel in the acquisition of a controlling stake in PT Sari Burger Indonesia, the franchisee of Burger King in Indonesia.
  • Acted for the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility in its role as guarantor in the issuance of two tranches of medium-term notes.

Ira has been named to The Legal 500 Hall of Fame for banking and finance in recognition of her years of continued excellence and constant praise from clients and colleagues. The Legal 500 also names her a leading practitioner for capital markets and corporate law and M&A

Ira was named to IFLR Asia Best Lawyers 2022, which recognises the top individual legal practitioners in the region, and was included in the 2022 IFLR1000 Women Leaders, a ranking of the most prominent women lawyers across the world. Ira has been included in the Asia Business Law Journal A-List of the Top 100 lawyers in Indonesia every year since the list was introduced in 2018.

Ira is a regular participant and speaker at Inter-Pacific Bar Association conferences, and represented the Indonesian jurisdiction of this body from 2002 to 2008. She is licensed as an advocate and Indonesian capital markets legal consultant.
