Career

Hyo Sang Kim is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices in a wide range of corporate areas with a focus on Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), Mergers & Acquisitions, Antitrust & Competition, Insolvency & Restructuring, and Product Liability & Consumer Claims. 

After joining Kim & Chang in 2007, Mr. Kim has advised many overseas and domestic clients in greenfield projects, foreign direct investments, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and restructuring of multinational companies, especially in the industries of TMT, IT, industrial, consumer goods and retail. 

Mr. Kim’s major practice areas also include various forms of consumer engagements including recall, product safety, certifications, malicious consumer complaints, standard contract regulations, labeling and advertisements. 

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim served in the Korean navy acting as a judge advocate. 

Mr. Kim is a regular contributor to World Bank’s “Doing Business” survey for the Korean section in multiple chapters including real estate and foreign direct investment. One of his other recently published works also includes the Korea Chapter of Practical Law – Private Company Acquisitions International Transaction Guide. 

Mr. Kim received an LL.M. from Duke University School of Law in 2013 and his LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 2001. He graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 2003. He is admitted to the Korean bar.
