M&A, Corporate and Commercial

Senior Associate

Campbell is a Senior Associate in our Wellington M&A corporate and commercial team, with a particular focus on technology, IT, outsourcing and privacy. He provides advice on all corporate and commercial matters including corporate governance and M&A (including contractual due diligence), procurement, privacy and data protection, IT agreements (including SaaS, agile and waterfall software development, and traditional licensing), IP licensing and consumer and marketing law compliance.

In addition, Campbell has advised numerous clients on compliance with privacy and data protection law, including the implications of the introduction of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for clients based both within and outside the EU, and the implications of New Zealand privacy law reforms.

Having worked both in the UK and in New Zealand, Campbell has experience with multi-jurisdictional issues. He has been involved in global product launches and has coordinated advice from lawyers from across the globe, in order to deliver to the end client a consistent and accurate brief of legal issues affecting each market.

Campbell takes an active interest in the development of privacy law in New Zealand and the intersection of privacy law and technology. He was the co-author of the firm’s submissions on the Privacy Bill, and presented those submissions to the Justice Committee on the firm’s behalf.

Campbell has a keen interest in the use of legal technology, including contract automation tools.
