Career

Aashka’s expertise in the Derivatives space lies in assisting clients of the nature of, amongst others, foreign and Indian banks, insurance companies, mutual funds and corporate companies in understanding the wide gamut of Indian and foreign legislations impacting OTC derivatives in India as well as advising on regulatory and documentation issues pertaining to derivatives in the Indian market.

She has significant experience in the comprehensive review and ratification of the primary diligence conducted by banks prior to entering into derivative trades with their counterparties as well as transaction analysis as regards such trades in certain cases. She also drafts and reviews documents pertaining to derivatives transactions including assisting banks with the preparation of the primary documentation required prior to initiating their role as a market maker in the Indian derivatives market.

Aashka has been actively involved in advisory and documentation work pertaining to institutional investors, foreign portfolio investors on their investments in Indian markets, issuance of offshore derivative instruments and compliance with local laws.

She also assists the dispute resolution team in relation to potential dispute or dispute scenarios arising out of derivative transactions between the client banks and their counterparties.

Aashka has conducted presentations and workshops highlighting the regulatory changes in the Indian derivatives market and its impact on various derivative products.
