Position
Mediator – specialising in banking and financial services.
Charles is recognised by the legal directories as a leading QC in financial services law. He mediates complex commercial and financial disputes, including insurance and professional indemnity, employment, fine art, public procurement and sports law cases.
In 2018 he mediated the claims brought against the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) arising out of the rendition of Abdul-Hakim Belhaj to Libya in 2004, the settlement of which was announced by the Attorney-General in Parliament.
He has mediated a number of human rights cases, in Asia and Africa.
Charles was also published in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame 2018.

Director of the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
Member of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, which determines claims against the intelligence agencies.
President of the National Anti-Doping Panel dealing with doping cases in sport.
Chairman of the International Tennis Federation tribunal.
Former deputy chairman of the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund.
