Since qualifying into the Employment team in 2017, Laura has consistently acted for both employers and employees and, in so doing, has developed a good understanding of the many facets of her specialist area of the law.

Whilst working as a paralegal prior to training with the firm, Laura acquired dispute resolution skills and has assisted on both sides of disciplinary and grievance procedures. She regularly advises on routine HR matters as well as on more involved issues, such as drafting employment contracts, settlement agreements and handbooks. She also has considerable experience when dealing with discrimination issues, unfair and constructive dismissals and the employment aspects of TUPE transfers.

Recent work has included:

• successfully acting for an employee in a claim for pregnancy discrimination against a firm of solicitors;
• advising an employer on engaging an overseas staff member;
• advising on a large scale TUPE transfer, involving 150 employees;
• acting for a multinational company in their defence (and counterclaim) of a constructive dismissal claim.
