Career

Kirsten is a highly experienced commercial property and agricultural lawyer. Her expertise extends to property development and finance, green issues and related commercial agreements. She has acted for farmers, landowners and landed estates, dealing with agricultural tenancies, partnership agreements, estate management, and rural property and development. As a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association, she is able to offer clients an overview of all agricultural and rural matters including property, tax, tenancy, and succession issues.

Recent/significant transactions include:

  • advising local land agents and their clients on a number of complex agricultural issues including surrender of agricultural tenancies, rent reviews and tax issues;
  • creation of partnership agreement for landowning family to ensure Entrepreneurs Relief on multi-million pound sale for development;
  • negotiation and documentation of the surrender of four agricultural leases with a reverse premium of £4m and the sale of farmland and various buildings in excess of 1000 acres for £13m;
  • developing precedent agreements for options, leases and digestate agreements for a leading anaerobic digestion business and completed transactions with a number of major estates for potential developments of sites on their land;
  • advising on a landowners’ agreement involving land transfer and surrender at a value of £2.5m;
  • successfully completing a complex option agreement and subsequent land purchase for 3.3 acres of land involving a sale from a landowning consortium via a third party.

Kirsten is a member of the Surveyors 1921 Club and is an accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator. In 2012, she was awarded a fellowship from the Agricultural Law Association, an organisation which is made up of lawyers, surveyors, accountants, bankers and farm business consultants who specialise in advising farmers and landowners.
