Career

Previously chief legal adviser at the National Farmers’ Union, Julie now heads up our agriculture team. Described by The Legal500 as having ‘a high degree of competence and a forensic mind’ Julie has extensive knowledge of how the Common Agricultural Policy and other EU regimes impact on businesses. She knows her way round the domestic regulations which govern day to day management on farms and estates and is well placed to advise on a range of subjects, including farm tenancies, cropping licences, contracting agreements, shooting leases and partnership matters. When not working directly on client matters, Julie manages our internal agri-academy and blogs, tweets, writes articles and gives talks on the latest legal developments that impact on farm businesses. She is a member of the Council of the Agricultural Law Association, the NFU and the British Association of Shooting and Conservation. In 2013 she was invited to be part of the Future of Farming Review group, a joint industry-government initiative aimed at exploring and making recommendations to ensure the sector has the right people and structures to meet future challenges. Julie is also Registrar to the Diocese of Lincoln.
