Elizabeth joined the firm in 2013 as head of the private client team. Having worked extensively in the private client field she has an in depth knowledge of the key legal issues faced by individuals in particular those relating to capital tax planning, land and business succession, probate administration, and managing incapacity. She has a particular understanding in the use of trusts to protect and preserve assets, particularly where there is a need to cater for vulnerable beneficiaries. As a result of this expertise, she has been entrusted to act as professional trustee/deputy/attorney for numerous clients. Elizabeth has worked with a wide range of individuals, including a large proportion of families involved in agriculture and the management of landed estates where business and family issues are often intrinsically linked.
The Alconbury office of Roythornes Solicitors continues to grow as a hub for the firm’s services, among which private client is a key area. The firm is particularly well known for dealing with complex agricultural matters typically with a business succession aspect. The ‘professional, friendly and helpful‘ team, led by Elizabeth Young, works across all of the firm’s offices but has a longstanding client base in East Anglia. Jarred Wright and Paul Thompson are the other main partners.
The private client practice at Roythornes Solicitors specialises in complex and high-value estate administrations involving agricultural and business assets. Other key areas of focus include business successions, wills and Stamp Duty Land Tax advice. The firm demonstrates its expertise in agricultural work by being a member of Select Lincolnshire and the National Farmers Union.
