Position

Marianne is a Partner in our Healthcare Providers team, advising clients on clinical negligence, regulatory and disciplinary matters, inquests, mental health law, criminal investigations and prosecutions, and data protection issues.

Marianne is a specialist in CQC issues, NHS Trust disciplinary hearings and HSE prosecutions.

She is extremely experienced in defending healthcare professionals in complex, high value negligence claims and representing her clients in both the High Court and Crown Court.

Marianne has a particular expertise in Mental Health Act matters and the treatment and detention of mentally ill individuals. She frequently advises on consent and confidentiality matters for mental health patients, vulnerable adults and children.

Andrew Parsons  ‘has great judgment and gives advice that is ‘spot on’ when clients are really in trouble’; he has represented Central & North West London NHS Foundation Trust in a judicial review before the Senior Coroner for Westminster on a case concerning a fatal overdose of a mental health patient on Trust premises. Alexandra Johnstone  is known for her in-depth knowledge of mental health law and handles inquests for a number of care homes and mental health hospitals. Recently promoted partner Marianne Frall is ‘first-rate’ and currently advices Central & North West London NHS on a number of matters relating to the Grenfell Tower fire. Julia Appleton  focuses on matters relating to consent, confidentiality and mental health.
