Position

Lynton is a specialist trial advocate. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1999, and joined Freemans in 2007. In 2010 he obtained higher rights audience in criminal proceedings and is part of the in house advocacy team. Lynton has appeared in Crown Courts since then and has an outstanding reputation for his advocacy. He has developed a practice which specialises in financial, international and complex crime. Lynton became a partner in 2014. As sole advocate he has successfully represented a diverse range of clients from business people in fraud cases to cases involving international drug trafficking to international people trafficking, kidnap and torture. He has also received specialist training for cases involving vulnerable witnesses and was recently commended for his ‘gently but affective’ cross examination of a rape complainant. Lynton was a director of the Black Solicitors Network, and is a member of the Solicitors Association for Higher Court Advocates. Lynton works with the International Senior Lawyers Project in developing and running training courses in advocacy, drafting and ethics for students and practitioners in developing countries. Lynton is a trustee of, and mentor with, ‘Stepping Up UK’, a charity that supports young people who have been in the UK care system in their transition from being looked after to independent living.
