Private client boutique Murray Beith Murray has a strong track record acting for high-net-worth individuals domiciled in Scotland, across the UK and further afield internationally. It also generates work from families, family trusts, charities and private companies. The firm is particularly prominent in asset protection and executries work, fielding specialist groups focusing on both areas. Other areas of expertise include wills, trusts, succession and estate planning, dispute resolution and personal and trust taxation. Peter Shand leads the team, which includes Ruthven Gemmell, senior partner Hugh Younger and Andrew Paterson.
Murray Beith Murray primarily handles disputes where the heritable property is in the form of partnerships and companies with complex tax arrangements. The firm has acted in sensitive cases, where it has been instructed to establish blood relations on the behalf of claimants, and has secured settlements between disputing siblings. The team has also worked on mandates concerning proving the tenor of disputed wills. Andrew Paterson leads the team, and focuses on asset protection. Senior partner Hugh Younger, a specialist in rural property, is a key member of practice, while Peter Shand , head of the firm’s private client group, handles tax matters.
