Position

Seun Timi-Koleolu is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Pavestones. Her practice areas include Technology(including Fintech), Foreign Investments, Data Protection and Corporate Commercial Law.

She has played a pivotal role in structuring from a legal standpoint, the successful entry into and operation in the Nigerian market by Foreign Direct Investors from various countries including South Africa, Malta, Hong Kong, Greece and England. She also advises and supports her clients in ensuring ease of repatriation of profits from Nigeria.

Furthermore, Seun guides various Startups/ Technology companies in navigating the Nigerian legal and regulatory landscape and operating within the confines of the law. Notable transactions in this regard include:

  • Legal Adviser to a global Fintech company providing mobile money services.
  • Leading the team in advising the First Micro Insurance Technology company in Nigeria.
  • Led the team in advising a startup on its acquisition by a Unicorn.
  • Leading the team in providing legal and regulatory compliance support to one of the First Biometric Payment Servicing Platforms in Nigeria.
  • Advising and structuring investment deals on behalf of investors to ensure they utilize the best structure in investing in startups in Nigeria and in other countries.
  • Leading the team in supporting a Technology Service Provider (head office in Greece) in structuring its agreements and obtaining the licenses required to ensure the easy repatriation of its profits out of Nigeria.
  • Leading the team in advising an Asset Management and Finance Company as it expands to become a Fintech Service provider using Open Banking to assess the credit rating of potential Borrowers.
     

Seun also leads the Data Protection Compliance team at Pavestones and supports clients both in Nigeria and out of Nigeria in ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Regulations in Nigeria.

She is an author of the Pavestones Doing Business Simplified Series which is the Pavestones weekly newsletter created to freely and in a simplified manner, share useful legal and regulatory advice with businesses, to guide their operations in Nigeria.
