Career
Paula is a founding partner of Cáez Muñoz Mejía Abogados and head of the M&A practice group. She has more than 15 years of experience in providing legal advice to national and internationa clients on matters regarding Corporate and Contractual Law and legal structuring of local and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. She was recognized by Leaders League on 2016, 2017 and 2018 as a Highly Recommended Lawyer on Mergers & Acquisitions, and her M&A Practice as Valuable Practice in 2018 and 2019.
Before founding CMM, Ms. Muñoz was senior associate in Mergers & Acquisitions at Gomez-Pinzon Abogados, senior lawyer in Corporate & Contractual Law and Mergers & Acquisitions at Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría. She also worked in the National Savings Fund and the Rural Bank in contractual and commercial matters; and at Deloitte & Touche as senior lawyer in the tax and legal department, among others.
Some of the most significant transactions throughout her career are: advising Empresas Publicas de Medellin – EPM on the merger between UNE and Millicom; the legal advisor to a private equity fund on the purchase of equity of Organización Corona; the legal advisor to Equity International in the investment on Terranum Desarrollo S.A.S. for the development of Project Connecta; the legal advisor to Lipigas on the purchase of the assets and liabilities of a Colombian group of companies of the Liquified Petroleum Gas sector and the advisor to Drummond on the drafting and negotiation of an EPC agreement for the construction of a gas plant, amongst others.

Paula graduated as a Lawyer from Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá) and has post-graduate studies on Administrative Law from the same institution, she also has a Master’s Degree on International Law in the University of Barcelona – ISDE (Spain).
