Leandro Henrique Mosello Lima, Head of Corporate and Managing Partner

Head of Corporate and Managing Partner Leandro Henrique Mosello Lima explains how the firm is adapting to clients’ changing needs

What do you see as the main points that differentiate MoselloLima Advocacia from your competitors?

We focus on building lasting relationships and sustainable results. This is the reason we invest in business intelligence to advice our production areas, such as the Legal Controllership, which promotes strategic management of information and parameterized indicators for each client, as well as the Institutional Relations Center, integrating our law firm within different sectors, decision chain and society.

The law practice reality increasingly moves towards the parameterization of theses and decisions, with strong influence from consolidated jurisprudence. Therefore, we challenge our team to permanent creativity and dynamic construction of solutions from a consultative advice in clear extension to the client needs. Also, we have a strong talent retention program (which makes us have a very low turnover), and a real obsession with the quality of the service provided (fast and deep).

Another fundamental point, is the fact that our law firm is recognized as a comprehensive and specialized law firm, for which we have implemented a robust thematic areas of legal practices sector, with our teams involved in an internal synergy program, enabling a service always specialized by area of law, segment of client activity, with increasing specialization.

Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

Undeniably, the projection of scenarios for all sectors, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, presents itself as one of the greatest challenges, and it is not different for law firms. Nevertheless, I see that tax law, contract law, judicial recovery, labor law, corporate law, real estate law and the environmental law tend to gain momentum.

The reason behind this, is because we will have three projected aspects: the legal conflicts arising from the effects of the Pandemic, with strong relevance to the tax law, labor law, contractual law and judicial recovery, the opportunities that are also projected by the scenario imposed by it, with emphasis on real estate law and corporate law, and also the continuity and resumption of what was already being promoted before the current context with great emphasis for legal environmental and sanitary control measures, which, in our opinion, will be elevated to a new level of governance, including international biosafety.

Certainly, the growth of a given area will be dictated by the pace at which the economy responds to the expectation of resumption of investments and opening of new growth fronts, where law firms will be decisive in the feasibility and legal certainty for such boost.

What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

The structuring of strategic support areas and the incorporation of digital just-in-time service tools, as well as advisory instruments. These measures allow clients to have an assertive control of case information, as well as optimize the analysis of success indicators, losses and opportunities for improvement, which communicates directly with a customized advisory action for the effective reality of each client, sector and area of law involved.

We also created special projects, with the objective of reducing customer litigation, implementing the root cause project and a professional body dedicated to Legal Due Diligences in an integrated way to the various branches of law that we operate.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

Technology is undoubtedly changing the way we interact with our clients and within a permanent and almost daily evolution. The evolution of the interaction with customers and services provided through technological tools has occurred at an accelerated pace. Therefore, while deploying a new technological tool in our law firm, we are aware of launching new ones.

In addition, it is essential that our law firm integrates into the platforms and systems used by our customers, especially when focusing on customer service. Information management oftentimes is elevated to the same level of equality with the actual lawsuits results, which makes the investment in technology permanent.

Many law firms highlight the role of technology in customer interaction, but perhaps the greatest role of technological tools is linked to service. The collection of performance indicators, quality control and results, allows our law firm to make sustainable decisions in the conduct of demands.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

We adopt as a guideline the deep knowledge of the client’s reality, which is a presupposition for our performance. Combining this with the specialized technical knowledge and apparatus provided by the support areas, we build solutions for critical cases, negotiated compositions and special projects.

The integration of our specialized areas allowed the development of some of the largest private investments in Brazil, with national and foreign capital, with end-to-end service, from the acquisition of the necessary assets, to the location, installation and operation of the projects, with special emphasis on the areas of environmental law, real estate law and labor law.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

Being increasingly a facilitator of decision making, recognized as a true extension of the client’s business, through the ability to maintain assertive service, with the use of permanent innovation and sustainable results.

A comprehensive law firm, including innovative areas, nonetheless increasingly specialized areas.
