His work focusses on approval procedures for major energy, industrial and infrastructure projects, representing clients in and outside court in cases of liability for environmental damage or in crisis situations such as operational incidents as well as on advising on the specific questions that are faced by industries in transition. He is one of the leading lawyers in climate law and climate litigation.

Niclas studied at the universities of Heidelberg and Geneva and at Nottingham Law School. He completed his legal training in Heidelberg, Berlin and Miami.
