He concentratos his practice in the structuring, elaboration and legal analysis of financing contracts, mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations of companies, corporate financing schemes and institutional advising to large companies in the national and international markets. Eduardo began his professional practice at the Development Finance Corporation (Peru) and later became part of the legal teams of Banco BBVA and Muñiz, Ramírez, Perez Taimán & Olaya Abogados. Since 2012 he is a partner of BBGS Peru and is also the Director of the Coril Group, a securitization company. He has been a professor on several occasions and has multiple publications in his name.

Peru > Bankruptcy and restructuring

Specialising in financial and corporate matters, BBGS Abogados is well-placed to advise on restructuring, both company reorganisations and debt refinancing. It is building bankruptcy expertise under partner Gerardo Guzmán who is supported by the skills of the more experienced corporate and finance lawyers Carlos Saco-Vertiz and Eduardo Landerer, respectively. The team continues to advise Peruvian tax authority SUNAT with respect to the $60m bankruptcy process of soccer club Universitario de Deportes. Other clients include Banco de Crédito del Perú and San Miguel Industrias PET.

BBGS Abogados fields a modest team of six lawyers led by partners Carlos Saco-Vertiz and Eduardo Landerer, both with many years’ experience of local and international finance matters, and the more recently made-up Gerardo Guzmán. The firm’s network of regional offices makes it ideal for mid-market cross-border transactions on behalf of both lenders and borrowing companies. It recently acted for Peru’s largest domestic bank, Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), in its role as collateral agent on several high-value financings, including $360m acquisition finance provided to InRetail Peru for the purchase of Makro Supermayorista.

Capital markets is a key area of focus at BBGS Abogados, part of a Latin American network which facilitates cross-border transactions. It is typically instructured on small to mid-sized matters, but attracts instructions from a significant client base comprising banks, insurance companies and well-known domestic companies. Partners Carlos Saco-Vertiz and Gerardo Guzmán take the lead on the majority of deal highlights, although third partner of the practice, Eduardo Landerer also advises in this sphere. Credicorp Capital and Banco de Crédito del Perú are among key clients who instruct the team.
