Sammy Li has a dedicated practice in capital markets and corporate transactional work. He is one of the “go-to lawyers” in advising on Hong Kong equity capital market transactions such as IPOs, global offerings, rights issues and other capital markets fund raising transactions. Sammy also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and insolvency, private equity as well as venture capital investments. Prior to re-joining Hogan Lovells as partner, he was the Hong Kong chair at a leading U.S. firm and an in-house counsel for a major investment bank, hence, he has a deep understanding of the finance industry and its regulations, which enables him to give practical commercial advice to clients.

Hogan Lovells‘ team is valued by Asia-based issuers and underwriters for its experience of US and Hong Kong IPOs, as well as private placements of equity and equity-linked securities, rights issues and all other types of equity fund raisings. Clients include investment banks and companies in the real estate, consumer, energy, life sciences, industrial and TMT sectors. Stephanie Tang, who joined from Shearman & Sterling in January 2019, co-heads the team with Sammy Li, Stephen Peepels and Nelson Tang. Li has led on more than 40 Hong Kong equity capital markets transactions, including IPOs, global offerings and rights issues. Tang has previous experience of working as an in-house counsel at an international investment bank. Peepels is the head of the firm’s US securities practice in the Asia-Pacific. Senior associates Jeffrey Lee and Samson Suen are also recommended.
