Rafał Grochowski, Partner, heads the Banking Infrastructure Department of the Hogan Lovells Warsaw office. He is an experienced lawyer in the fields of the issuance of debt instruments, project finance, property finance, debt restructuring, assets leasing, and the lease-back of real properties. Rafał has advised on many pioneering projects on the Polish market: the first and second issuance of mortgage bonds in post-war Poland, the first and second securitisation ever held by a bank in Poland, and the first issuance of bonds by a foreign bank. In addition, he has advised on the first Public Private Partnership project in the education and health sector in Poland, the first issue revenue bonds for the Inter-Commune Association and municipality, and the first leaseback of a real property and the buy-sell-back transaction. Rafał Grochowski has also advised on the financing of a large number of Poland’s key infrastructure projects including: nine airports, four stadiums, seven sports and recreation facilities, over 25 transport infrastructure projects, over ten energy sector projects, and over 20 projects in other sectors. Rafał is one of Poland’s most recognised banking and debt capital market lawyers. He has been recommended as a leading specialist by international rankings for many years.
