Career

Ashley Hutto-Schultz has experience in a broad array of state and federal financial services regulatory matters, particularly related to consumer lending, servicing, and brokering. She represents both emerging and established organizations, including FinTech companies, as well as bank and non-bank lenders, loan servicers, and third-party service providers.

Ashley’s practice also includes helping U.S. market entrants navigate the intricacies of the U.S. regulatory landscape related to their consumer financial products and services.

In serving these clients, Ashley has particular experience with compliance issues arising under the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering regulations, as well as financial privacy issues arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Gramm Leach-Bliley Act.

She has led numerous state licensing initiatives for various types of institutions and, as a result, often assists these companies with licensing and compliance matters before state regulatory agencies.

Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Ashley was the director of compliance at an independent mortgage lender where she handled all aspects of the institution’s compliance management system and regulatory matters. Prior to that, she handled consumer financial services matters as an associate at an Am Law 200 firm and assisted with consumer issues in the Congressional Liaison’s office of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
