Career

Ahmet Kalafat is a Senior Associate in our Finance Practice Group based in Dubai. He has been based in the region for more than 15 years.  Before moving to Dubai, he worked in the legal department of the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and at an international law firm in Istanbul, Turkey.

He regularly advises leading international and regional banks, and development finance institutions on numerous financing transactions in the Middle East. He has substantial experience in Islamic finance transactions and is very well regarded as an Islamic finance lawyer. One of his other strengths is the Turkish market where he has developed a strong banking and finance practice with established relationships with local Turkish banks and corporates.

Legal 500 EMEA, Banking and Finance and Islamic Finance recognizes Ahmet as a “Next Generation Lawyer”.

He completed his graduate diploma in law at BPP Law School, London and his legal practice course at The Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. He is an English and Turkish-qualified lawyer and is fluent in English and Turkish.
