Position

Partner in Family Law team. Jamie has acted in a range of family law actions, concerning financial provision, child-related matters, cessation of cohabitation and international elements, as well as dealing with the preparation of Agreements before and after marriage and post-separation and advising clients in connection with Guardianship matters. His caseload has included complex Court of Session divorces, largely relating to the division of matrimonial property, and a range of actions in the Sheriff Court concerning both children and financial matters. Also experience and expertise in regulatory and disciplinary law.

Career

Trained with Balfour+Manson from 2011-2013; qualified 2013; promoted to associate 2015; assumed as partner in 2017; current committee member of the Family Law Association; member of the advisory group for the family law reform project led by Kate Dowdalls QC, Commissioner, at the Scottish Law Commission currently focusing on the reform of the law of cohabitation; volunteer with Citizen’s Advice and Gingerbread and formerly a tutor with the School Mock Court Project and the University of Edinburgh’s Free Legal Advice Centre.
