He has significant experience in negotiating high value commercial contracts and leading on international projects. Peter’s work often involves an intellectual property dimension, particularly in relation to service companies in the energy sector.

Ledingham Chalmers LLP’s team has a longstanding track record in the oil and gas service sector, where it acts for clients such as Tendeka, Plexus Ocean Systems and Ramco Oil Services. Led by Peter Murray, the team handles a broad spectrum of mandates, including M&A, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, as well as providing commercial contract advice. Rod Hutchison is advising Total Waste Management Alliance on corporate and contractual issues connected with its global energy services activities. Peter Murray and Allan Collie jointly head the team at Ledingham Chalmers LLP, which is experienced in schemes connected with onshore and offshore wind, hydropower and wave projects, as well as CHP schemes. Other areas of strength include carbon capture, transportation and storage projects. In 2016, consultant Malcolm Laing and Craig Wilson acted for Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group on the sale of a 25% interest in Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Limited to Swedish energy company Vattenfall. Jim Drysdale and Neil Anderson are other notable practitioners in the team, which has a particularly strong track record acting for landowners and developers.

Ledingham Chalmers LLP advises public and private sector clients located across Scotland on a full range of environmental issues, including contaminated land issues, matters related to salmon and freshwater fisheries, water and drainage, and nature conservation. Jim Drysdale, who has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental law arena, heads the practice, which includes David Scott, who is singled out for his combined expertise in planning and environmental matters. Solicitor advocate John Chalmers, who has 26 years of experience of Sheriff Court and Court of Session litigation, undertakes a significant amount of work for local authorities, including judicial reviews of planning decisions (which involve environmental issues).
