Position

A partner at the firm, Debbie has experience in all types of personal injury claims. She represents clients who have sustained life changing injuries in a wide variety of circumstances including road traffic accidents, accidents at work and accidents where they are visitors. She has also represented a number of families where accidents have tragically resulted in the loss of a child or partner as a result of someone else’s negligence. Debbie has also assisted Claimants whose complex medical backgrounds prior to their accident has required understanding and sensitivity to ensure a successful conclusion. Debbie’s role is to secure compensation and support that will provide clients with whatever they need for the rest of their lives. Debbie is focused on engaging high quality rehabilitation to ensure clients achieve the best recovery with the right professionals. She has established care packages with case management input, occupational therapy, speech therapy and psychology input securing substantial interim payments to fund these when needed and ensuring that her clients have the opportunity to achieve their best outcome and get to live their best lives. Debbie is recognised as a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Career

Debbie joined the practice as a Trainee Solicitor in 1998 and was invited on qualification to join the team and has now developed over 20 years of experience in personal injury at Lanyon Bowdler. Debbie heads both the Telford and Hereford regional personal injury team’s and became a partner in January 2019.

Education

Debbie obtained her Law Degree at the University of Derby before completing the Legal Practice course at Wolverhampton University.

Beth Heath, who is based in Shrewsbury, heads the clinical negligence department at Lanyon Bowdler, following the retirement of Kay Kelly. Hereford-based Lucy Small  is a key member of the team who has considerable experience in complex clinical negligence cases including birth/brain injury and catastrophic spinal injury claims. The highly experienced team has substantial expertise in a variety of catastrophic injury cases, also including amputations and fatal claims, and continues its key engagement in a large number of birth injury cases involving the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS trusts. Emma Broomfield possesses wide ranging experience of advising claimants with cerebral palsy, catastrophic brain injury and other injuries such as amputations and paraplegia. The personal injury practice is headed by Dawn Humphries . It has a wealth of experience in handling a wide range of claims including accidents abroad, asbestos, industrial disease and military claims as well as amputations, brain injuries and spinal injuries. Neil Lorimer  also plays a pivotal role in the department along with Debbie Humphries .
