Position

Jill specialises in advising individuals facing investigation and prosecution by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Serious Fraud Office (SFO). She has developed a particular expertise in representing those being prosecuted for insider dealing. Jill has recently advised two defendants who faced insider dealing charges in large, complex prosecutions brought by the FCA (then known as the FSA). Both were acquitted on all counts. She also has experience in advising in relation to alleged breaches of FCA rules and principles and for market abuse. In respect of both white collar and general criminal allegations, Jill has extensive day-to-day experience in assisting clients at the police station and provides robust and tactically astute advice in the critical early stages of a criminal investigation. She advises clients facing the full spectrum of criminal charges, from driving offences to GBH, rape, sexual assault, possession of indecent images and other serious offences. Jill also has experience in public law and inquiry work, having assisted in advising a high-profile witness in the Iraq inquiry as well as Lord Blair, the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, in the Flanagan inquiry.
