Career

Alison qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and has over 25 years of litigation experience, handling both employers’ liability and public liability claims, with particular expertise in the field of occupational disease.

Alison has been with our business since 2005 and became a Partner in the Disease Team in 2012. She is the Technical Manager of our Leeds Disease Team and acts as supervisor to more junior team members.

She handles claims for asbestos induced and other respiratory conditions, cancer claims, work-related upper limb disorders, HAVS, occupational deafness and work-related stress. She also handles complex and high value non-disease liability claims and has recently concluded a Public Liability claim involving intervening medical negligence which was pleaded at £9.9 million where she managed to secure an indemnity for our client in consideration of a contribution of only £275,000.

Alison was a key member of the Plexus team that successfully handled the defence of one of the test cases for noise induced hearing loss brought by textile workers in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire which was heard in the Supreme Court (Baker v Quantum Clothing Group [2011] UKSC 17).

Alison currently acts for a number of major insurers, public sector and corporate clients handling both EL and PL, living or fatal mesothelioma claims. She is regularly involved in high value settlement negotiations in these claims, the value of which ranges from generally between £100,000 and £300,000 to often in excess of £500,000. Alison is also handling a number of mesothelioma cases where immunotherapy treatment costs are being claimed and has provided advice to clients on the impact that such treatment is likely to have on the value and procedural aspects of mesothelioma claims.
